Acquisition of Tubicom Lucca

Moba Eurotubi confirms the positive conclusion of the acquisition transaction, with effect from 24th January 2020, of the Tubicom company based in Lucca.
The agreement was signed with the historical family owners for the sale of Tubicom S.p.A, core manufacturers since 1993 with a strong specialization in the tissue sector.
The acquisition involved an important partner, with consolidated experience in the production of recycled coreboard, Industria Cartaria Pieretti Spa member of Cartiera dell'Adda Group, based in Marlia (Lucca), who will be part of the new business project together with Moba Eurotubi.
The current joint venture of the two companies, Moba Eurotubi Srl and ICP Spa, will benefit from the synergistic use of specific experiences and know-how aimed at consolidating the Tubicom project. The development plan provides to keep the company's identity and territoriality: the factory will remain operational in Lucca within an industrial district of European significance.
Organizational improvements have already been prepared and planned, aimed in particular at the technological and logistical modernization of the site, in order to achive the same performance as the Como and Isernia sites.
Now Moba Eurotubi strengthens its footprint on the Italian territory, with the three production sites: the first is located in northern Italy in Montorfano in the province of Como, the second in southern Italy in Sessano del Molise, in the province of Isernia, and now the third site in central Italy with the Tubicom company of Lucca.

Lucca first paper district in Italy

The paper district of Lucca is one of the most important industrial districts on the national territory, also recognized abroad. This paper and converting sector counts about 1,000,000 tons of corrugated paper and about 900,000 tons of tissue paper per year. Respectively, they hold 40% and 80% of the Italian market of corrugated sheet and hygienic paper. Exports in the paper industry are worth about 700 million Euros per year and are mainly generated to European countries. (confindustriatoscanord data).

These values are now possible thanks to a solid hundred-year history of technological improvement and refinement throughout the entire value chain. Moreover, also the morphological positioning has allowed the establishment of these activities in a strategic area of the Mediterranean basin with the presence of numerous watercourses, necessary at the beginning for the regular operation of the plants.
